Onboarding Paperwork and I-9 Verification Process
Employees hired at Georgia Tech are required to complete an Employment Verification Form (Form I-9) BEFORE their employment start date.
If you were previously employed by Georgia Tech as an employee in the last two years and completed the onboarding/I-9 verification process, this process does not apply to you.
Before You Start Work
Please complete the Onboarding Paperwork and I-9 Verification Process below if one of the following scenarios applies to you:
- Been hired as a Faculty/Staff or Student Employee at Georgia Tech for the first time.
- Not worked, logged time, and received a paycheck at Georgia Tech for the past two years.
- Previously hired at Georgia Tech as a different employee type (example: previously hired as a student employee but have been rehired as a staff employee)
*Affiliates are required to complete onboarding paperwork and the security questionnaire. They do not need to complete the I-9 verification process.
Onboarding Paperwork
Complete Employee Online Documents
- You will receive an email from Equifax (sent from: donotreply@equifax.com) with instructions to complete your employee online documents.
- Check your spam folder or contact your hiring manager if you do not see the email from Equifax.
- Complete and submit your employee online documents to receive information about onboarding.
Step 1: Onboarding Paperwork
Complete Employee Online Documents
- You will receive an email from Equifax (sent from: donotreply@equifax.com) with instructions to complete your employee online documents.
- Check your spam folder or contact your hiring manager if you do not see the email from Equifax.
- Complete and submit your employee online documents to receive information about onboarding.
Step 2: I-9 Verification Process
Complete Form I-9 and Security Questionnaire
- Once you submit your employee online documents, you will receive an email from Equifax that will instruct you to schedule an appointment with the Administrative Services Center (ASC) to complete Section 2 of Form I-9 and sign the Georgia Loyalty Oath and Security Questionnaire.
- Present original, unexpired documents to prove your eligibility to work in the United States during your appointment. A list of acceptable documents can be found on the Identification Requirements list.
I-9 Verification Process
Complete Form I-9 and Security Questionnaire
- Once you submit your employee online documents, you will receive an email from Equifax that will instruct you to schedule an appointment with the Administrative Services Center (ASC) to complete Section 2 of Form I-9 and sign the Georgia Loyalty Oath and Security Questionnaire.

I-9 Verification Process
Required For Employees Who Work in the Metro-Atlanta Area
In-Person Appointment at the Administrative Services Center (ASC)
- Book an appointment with the ASC through the Administrative Services portal (schedule an appointment here)
- Visit the ASC at 500 Tech Parkway, NW, Atlanta, GA 30332 for your appointment.
- During this appointment you will be required to bring original, unexpired documents to prove your eligibility to work in the United States. For a list of acceptable documents, view the Identification Requirements list.
Employees working outside the Metro-Atlanta Area
Option 1: Virtual Appointment with Administrative Services Center
- Book a virtual appointment through the Administrative Services portal (select I-9 Verification Process option)
- Join appointment using the Microsoft Teams link provided by the ASC via email.
- Print the Security Questionnaire and sign in front of a Notary (locate a Notary for document signing)
- Mail a copy of documents used to prove eligibility, signed Form I-9, and signed and notarized Security Questionnaire to 500 Tech Parkway, NW Atlanta, GA 30332.
Employees working outside the Metro-Atlanta Area
Option 2: College and University Professional Association (CUPA) Consortium Appointment
- Call the ASC at 404.385.1111 to request a schedule an in-person CUPA Consortium appointment.
- Prepare original documents to prove eligibility to work in the United States. A list of acceptable original and unexpired documents can be found See a list of acceptable original and unexpired documents.
- Print the Security Questionnaire and sign in front of a notary (locate a notary for document signing)
- Visit CUPA Consortium institution for appointment.
- Mail a copy of documents used to prove eligibility, signed Form I-9, and signed and notarized Security Questionnaire to 500 Tech Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30332.
Employees working outside the Metro-Atlanta Area

What is Form I-9?
Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, is a form used by U.S. employers to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
Why do employees need to complete Form I-9?
Federal law requires that every employer who recruits, refers for a fee, or hires an individual for employment in the U.S. must complete Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Form I-9 verifies the employee’s identity and employment authorization.
What happens if the Form I-9 cannot be completed?
Employees who are unable to meet federal Form I-9 requirements cannot lawfully be employed.
What are the requirements?
Every Georgia Tech employee is required to complete the onboarding paperwork and I-9 verification process (Form I-9 Sections 1 and 2) before their employment start date.
What are the benefits of completing the I-9 verification process in advance?
Completing the I-9 verification process in advance will allow you to experience a smooth and stress-free first day, provide an opportunity for you to access necessary technology and systems in a timely manner, and fully participate in your department’s orientation and get acquainted with the Georgia Tech community.
